In 1998, Montel Williams was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. In 2004, Climbing Higher, his surprisingly and sometimes brutally honest look at his struggles with the disease was released to acclaim; the book spent 4 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and Montel was roundly praised for his openness and candor.
The fear, anxiety and depression chronicled in Climbing Higher eventually gave way to a determination to live the best life possible, so Montel began doing what he does best — fight back against adversity. LIVING WELL: 21 Days to Transform Your Life, Supercharge Your Health and Feel Spectacular is the fitness, nutrition and lifestyle plan that has helped Montel manage his disease and lead the remarkable life he does—hosting a daily talk show, traveling around the country speaking,
and doing philanthropic work. For more information,

Montel Williams and Adam Kaplin, M.D., Chair of the foundation’s Scientific Advisory Board, have been published in the distinguished Neurology® journal in the April 1, 2007 online edition. The two gentlemen responded to an article in the journal, “How Common Are the ‘Common’ Neurologic Disorders” (January 30, 2007 pp.326-337), refuting the studies the authors used and calling upon the NIH to champion the illness as a national priority. Their letter will appear in a hard copy edition of Neurology® later this year. For an abstract of the aforementioned journal article, click here.
